Micro Mysteries — Six Five-Minute Classroom Reasoning Challenges | Single-School Licence

$49.00

One image. One paragraph. One puzzle.

Micro Mysteries is a collection of six short, illustrated classroom reasoning challenges designed to help learners pause before reaching a conclusion.

Each mystery presents an ordinary situation containing incomplete, competing, or potentially misleading clues. Students observe the image, read the short puzzle, and record their thinking in their exercise books using five headings:

Notice · Clues · Possibilities · Uncertain · Judgement

The aim is not to race toward one correct answer. Students learn to distinguish observation from explanation, consider more than one possibility, identify what remains unknown, and form the most careful judgement supported by the available evidence.

Each mystery can be displayed on a classroom screen and completed in approximately five minutes. No student photocopying is required.

Included in the download

  • One-page Teacher Guide

  • Six fully illustrated Micro Mysteries

  • Exercise-book recording routine

  • Individual mystery prompts for observation and discussion

  • Single-School Licence

  • Full Resource Licence Terms

  • Digital ZIP download

The six mysteries

  • The Puddle by the Door

  • The Silent Clock

  • The Bent Ruler

  • The Empty Feeder

  • The Window Line

  • The Blue Pen

Suggested classroom use

Display one mystery and allow students a quiet moment to observe the image and read the puzzle. Students then record their thinking in their exercise books before comparing explanations with a partner, group, or class.

The central discussion question is:

Which explanation is best supported by the available evidence?
